Queen Elizabeth II strips Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of the CBE honour, as per reports. After 2017 and 2018 allegations sparked #MeToo campaign, Weinstein was found guilty of sexual assault and rape, earlier this year. Weinstein, who is the former Miramaz and Weinstein Co. Boss was found guilty of rape and sexual assault earlier this year, in February. In October 2017, Weinstein was dismissed from his company and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after the sexual abuse allegations levelled against him.

According to an official statement released in the UK.’s official public record newspaper, The London Gazette, Queen Elizabeth II has striped the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of the CBE honour. The statement in The London Gazette read, “The Queen has directed that the appointment of Harvey Weinstein to be an Honorary Commander of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, dated 29 January 2004, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.”

As per the statement, Queen Elizabeth II has directed that Harvey Weinstein’s CBE honour shall be ‘cancelled and annulled’. The report state that Queen Elizabeth II has also directed that the name of the Hollywood producer shall be erased from the ‘Register of the said Order’. Weinstein was honoured as the ‘Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire’ years before he was found guilty.


Meanwhile, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein had been award the CBE honour in the year 2004. He was awarded the honour on January 29, 2004. As per the report, the CBE honour is designed and awarded to people who have made a ‘distinguished, innovative contribution to any area.’ Weinstein was found guilty for sexual assault and rape and sentenced to a 23-year prison in February 2020.
